2013 is a relatively powerful vintage for this normally restrained and cool wine and I particularly like the underlying tension as it invites another sip

A spicy and very Vosne-like nose freely offers up its aromas of black pinot fruit

rose petal and lilac with those of both red and dark currant

Here there is enough reduction to mask the nuances of the underlying fruit so I would suggest giving this some air first

A more restrained nose grudgingly reveals the essence of plum where additional breadth is present in the form of black raspberry and violet scents

Bright, lifted and beautifully persistent, the Bien Nacido has so much going on. There is a sense of translucency I find absolutely compelling. Bright saline notes give the Bien Nacido energy, tension and drive. This is such a gorgeous wine. Antonio Galloni
